Hot Linking
Process by which one links to an image stored on one site yet it appears on one or more other sites. If done without permission, this is considered unethical since one is using bandwidth they are not paying for. A hotlink is a direct link to an image on someone else’s web server. For example, if you saw an image that you like in one of these blinkies resources and you put the image on your website using the image URL source of that other person’s site, then you are hotlinking. Some webmaster use a new search engine optimization practice to get high rankings on Google. They hotlink images from other web servers to rank highly in Google’s image search results.
